Hernan Sosa

Hi everyone,

My name is Hernan. Most people call me Rufo. I am an Argentinian painter based in Spain. At the moment, I dedicate all my time to the arts of illustrating, painting, muralism, and design.

I started my studies at EAH (Cartoon School of Argentina) with teachers like Juan Zanotto and Jorge Lucas, among others. Next, I entered the IUNA (National University Institute of Art) where I oriented my training towards drawing and painting, starting to paint in large formats. Parallel to the university, I took private lessons with the great teacher Rocambole (Ricardo Cohen), with whom I spent several years learning the tricks and secrets to carry out this profession in a more “serious” fashion so I could make a living.

Later, I decided to expand and update my knowledge by entering the New School of Design and Communication, where I graduated as an advertising graphic designer and worked independently for 8 years. And for a year in Spain, I continue to learn, expand and work on everything related to art.

If I remember correctly, I painted the work I entered in the contest in the year 2003. I portrayed one of my cats, and added the division between white and black as a symbol of his personality. It is a simple painting, and – as you can see in my works – I almost always focus on dualities, white and black, as a concept.

You can find my work on my website and on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
